The 2 WeekWait – 4 Things You Can Do So It Doesn’t Suck

Over the years, I’ve supported 1000s of people who are working towards building their families.

Although everyone’s fertility journey is different in many ways – there are two things everyone seems to agree on:

1️⃣ Waiting SUCKS – especially the 2WW

AND

2️⃣ We are our own worst enemies when it comes to waiting

HERE ARE 4 THINGS YOU CAN DO DIFFERENTLY TO MAKE YOUR 2WW FLY BY (you can also listen to this info on the Fringe Fertility Podcast!)

😳1. DON’T FREEZE IN YOUR FEAR & ANXIETY

Instead – MOVE YOUR BODY:

We’re literally frozen with anxiety during the 2ww. What if I harm the embryo by going for a walk? What if I stop it from implanting…oh crap I sneezed! Oh no, I tripped!

Always refer to your doctor first – but most fertility docs say that after a transfer, low intensity movement is safe AND beneficial!

Here’s why you want to move during the 2ww

  • bring oxygenated blood to the uterus (bye-bye stagnant blood!)
  • distraction
  • decrease anxiety & fear
  • improve overall well being and outlook
  • lower stress and cortisol

Action: movement for the 2ww – Fertility yoga (not hot power yoga), walking (not a marathon), mellow hiking (not climbing Denali), swimming (not crossing the English Channel) , or light cycling (not the Tour de France).

🐚 2. DON’T BECOME A HERMIT

Instead: GO OUTSIDE EVERYDAY FOR at least 30 minutes (sitting counts!)

Staying inside all day leads to:

  • Boredom
  • Depression
  • Rumination of negative thoughts
  • Lethargy & stagnation

Here’s why you want to go outside:

Breathing fresh air 💨

It can boost your mood, lower your heart rate, increase energy levels & help fight airborne illnesses and infection (and NO ONE wants to be sick during the 2WW)

✓ Marinating in Nature 🌲

Being in nature literally makes you FEEL GOOD! It can lower blood pressure and cortisol levels (Yes, please!), and keeps us calm, reduces anxiety, and improves our overall mood.

Action: Sit or stand by a tree, close your eyes, and breathe deeply for 5 cycles of breath. Open your eyes and name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can feel, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.

🔆 3. DON’T DIM YOUR LIGHT

Instead, in the two week wait, CREATE, CREATE, CREATE.

When you’re in the 2 week wait you are literally in the creation phase of your cycle 🪄

To boost and support this, raise your creative vibration and go and create!

Not everyone is Picasso or Mary Oliver – so if painting & poetry aren’t your jam – then think outside of the box:

  • Love cooking? Go to the market and make a nourishing meal
  • Love music? Go make a playlist
  • Love essential oils? Make some diffuser blends (fertility friendly of course)
  • Love furniture? Start restoring a dresser
  • Love jewelry? Go to the bead store and make some necklaces.
    And remember – creating isn’t about the final outcome, it’s about the process…


❎ 4. STOP STRESS TESTING

Instead: DO ANY OF THE ABOVE ⬆️

I know – you just can’t stop yourself! Pregnancy testing 5 times a day might seem like it’s soothing your anxiety – but actually, it is triggering more anxiety and depression. Tricky little bugger.

Because we think the test is going to give us answers, but we know they are unreliable in the early days.

➖ False Negatives when testing with a HPT – so you could be pregnant and think that you’re not! No need to go through that…

➕ False positives happen because of the hormones that you’re taking after a transfer – so you might think you’re pregnant and you’re not! No thanks!

The next time you get twitchy to test – take a deep breath – say no to more anxiety and distract yourself – move your body, go outside, or create!

Action: cancel the monthly amazon subscription of 20 boxes of pregnancy tests 😉
