Greetings and Welcome to Fertile Body Yoga

If you are here because you are experiencing some setbacks in becoming pregnant or staying pregnant – I want you to know that I share in this path with you.

Having gone through 3+ years of fertility treatments, experiencing pregnancy loss, and eventually having two successful pregnancies gives me first hand knowledge of how stressful and cyclical these times can be. I’ve walked the walk – at times with grace and contentment, and times with despair, frustration, and fear.

Teaching Yoga has been a part of my life since 2006, and over the last few years I have trained and specialized in Fertility, Prenatal, Postnatal, and Restorative Yoga.

I have been teaching weekly Fertile Body Yoga classes and workshops in Boston since 2016 and have supported hundreds of people on their family building missions.

I can tell you that, without a doubt, you have the ability through Yoga and Mind/Body practices to optimize your fertility efforts, by reducing stress and nurturing the health of your body, mind, and soul.

I hope that you will give me the opportunity to support you throughout your journey, whatever it may look like. Feel free to connect with me directly at anytime.

Background and training

In 2006, when my Yoga teacher was moving, she asked me if I’d like to take over her weekly Yoga classes. I was absolutely mortified! I had zero formal Yoga training and only a couple years of irregular practice under my belt. She told me ‘you are already a teacher, you can do this’. This was before the widespread 200 hour teacher trainings. After a few weeks of intense studying, pouring over Judith Hansen-Lasater’s 30 Essential Yoga Poses, I began my path as a Yoga teacher.

The last two decades have been filled with trainings, workshops, retreats, and teaching. I have had the opportunity to train, learn, and teach with some of the most highly respected Yoga Teachers in the industry.

Kerry is warm & engaging! Her compassion and sensitivity to each student help create a safe and healing environment. Before meeting Kerry I would hear about her wonderful yoga classes from women in my Infertility Support Group. I then reached out to Kerry and we have been collaborating ever since!

Associations and engagements

Down Under School of Yoga in Boston is presently the home studio of Kerry’s weekly Fertile Body Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Postnatal Yoga classes. Workshops are also offered within and outside of the studio.

Kerry is the Yoga teacher for the Domar Center Mind/Body Group at Boston IVF and has working relationships with many fertility doctors, women’s health acupuncturists, and mental health counsellors in the Boston area.

Kerry also writes semi-regular blog posts for RESOLVE New England, a non-profit organization that supports and advocates for the rights of all to assisted reproductive therapy, provides support groups, and hosts conferences on fertility. 5% of each Fertile Body Yoga Series sold is donated to RESOLVE New England.

If you are a studio owner or fertility professional who would like to collaborate or work with Kerry and Fertile Body Yoga, let’s connect and see what magic we can create together.

As an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility and women’s health, I love referring patients to Kerry for Fertile Body Yoga. Whether a person is trying to conceive at home or is under the care of a reproductive endocrinologist, it can be incredibly stressful. Kerry blends slow flow body led yoga  and restorative poses that create a relaxation response in the body. It’s exactly what people need when so much of their day is spent in that fight or flight response.

Kerry truly understands the plight of those who are on a journey to build their families and she creates a safe space where you can listen to your body and give yourself exactly what you need. It’s so gentle and Kerry offers plenty of modifications that I never worry where a patient is in their cycle. Fertile Body Yoga comes highly recommended and is an important component to managing stress when trying to conceive

A little more about Kerry

Kerry grew up in Vancouver, Canada which set the foundation for a life of adventure, travel, and a deep respect for the power of nature. Driven by a lust for new and different experiences, she has traveled extensively and has lived and worked throughout Canada, the US, Australia, and Germany. She presently lives in Boston with her husband (a scientist) and homeschools her 2 sons.

With a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management and a BA in Psychology with an Honours in Clinical Psychology, Kerry uses her formal studies to inform her teaching – visualizations tying her students to nature or taking Yogic philosophy and making it accessible through psychological principles.

A few interesting jobs Kerry has done include an Outward Bound instructor in Australia and Eastern Canada, a Backcountry Park Ranger for BC Parks, an Outdoor Education teacher, a cave guide, a snowshoe guide, a ski instructor, an English teacher, a Big Brothers Big Sisters program coordinator, a pilates teacher, and a waitress.

Kerry and her husband lived on a sailboat on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, then moved to Germany for 7 years. It was in Europe where Kerry was finally able to complete her Yoga teacher training and taught Yoga in Germany for many years.

Fall is by far her favorite season, peppermint tea her warm beverage of choice, and if she were to start another career tomorrow, she’d be a photographer or an acupuncturist!
